Mike Casey
We’re incredibly fortunate to have Mike Casey as our Cromwell Community Board liaison. A Central Otago entrepreneur and cherry orchardist, Mike has proudly made Cromwell home. He and his family of five are deeply connected to the community, and he’s passionate about helping our town grow in ways that support local families, strengthen relationships, and protect the things we all love about Cromwell.
Mike is well known for pioneering the world’s first fully electric orchard - a project that shows how smart, practical innovation can reduce costs while building long-term environmental resilience. His work in energy, sustainability, and future-focused farming has given him a strong grounding in problem solving, planning, and navigating complex systems. These are skills he brings back to his community mahi, skills we value highly as a community trust.
Above all, Mike cares about people. He brings a friendly, solutions-driven approach shaped by years of hands-on experience in agriculture, small business, and regional development. His focus for Cromwell is simple and heartfelt: support local whānau, grow community wellbeing, and help guide our town toward a future that’s affordable, resilient, and full of opportunity.
