August 2026 Meeting: Community Update
Community-led ideas continue to thrive across the district, with the Cromwell & Districts Community Trust supporting local groups through advice, connections and practical resources, helping turn great ideas into successful projects.
Electrify Cromwell is gaining momentum, helping explore ways households can reduce energy costs through electrification and affordable solar technology. Watch this space for details of an exciting community event coming soon.
At the Cromwell Chinese Village, much of the recent progress has been behind the scenes. Cultural advice from Chinese academic Lu Zhihong and tourism operator Chen Huigang is helping shape the next stage of the project, including aging of the main hut, signage, further hut footings and landscaping. Cuttings from the original goji berry plants are thriving and will soon become part of the site's living history.
Predator Free Cromwell continues to make great progress. The community trap library remains popular, with possums topping the winter catch numbers, closely followed by rats. The team has also launched Tracker Tuesdays, sharing weekly updates on predator monitoring across the district. Follow Predator Free Cromwell on Facebook and join in.
Thank you to everyone who has completed the Cromwell Community Plan survey. If you haven't yet had your say, there's still time to help shape the future of our district by completing the survey here.
If you have an idea that could make a positive difference in our community, we'd love to hear from you. Let us know your thoughts here.
